I thought it would be nice to check in with our puppies in their new homes once they started to mature and we would have a better sense of their appearance and their temperaments as they mature. This is an update on how the puppies have developed!

This is Cherry. This is what Cherry’s family have to say about her : “Cherry is about 13lbs and she’s extremely smart! She already knows tons of tricks, she’s like an acrobat!!lol She is also great with all other animals, she has the best temperament, and she always sleeps through the night…..which is a bonus! She also only barks really lightly when she hears someone at the door, just to let us know, other than that she barely ever barks!! I’ve had dogs before but she is by far the sweetest, and smartest!!!”

This is Tucker! This is what Tucker’s family has to say about him:
“Tucker is AWESOME! I can’t believe how lucky we are to have found such a perfect little dog! He is adored by everyone who meets him!
Tucker is physically perfect; he has had all of his shots to date and was neutered 2 weeks ago. Our Vet says he is in great shape, has a good weight (15 lbs approx.), a shiny black coat and is full of energy! His body is lean and getting more muscular. Tucker can pull like crazy and now is able to jump up on our couches and bed (the bed is almost three feet high). He eats well and drinks plenty. We were amazed that at four months he was lifting his leg to pee. We know some other male dogs who at one year still do not lift the leg. We give him “Orijen” dog food. It is high quality food made in Canada with regional ingredients. I highly recommend it to anyone who asks.
He is now going to puppy school and is doing really well. However, before he started going we were already teaching him the basics. He sits on command before going through any doors or when we are putting on his leash. He will sit and wait (when asked) before crossing the street. He will stop doing something when told to “leave it!” and we use “no lick” and “no bite” when we want him to stop licking or biting. However, when he meets new people he goes nuts and forgets everything he has been taught so far! After all, he is still just a puppy!
He still has the occasional accident indoors, but 95% of the time he will sit by the door to let us know he has to go. He sleeps in his crate for 7 – 8 hours straight. Recently, we left him on his own for two hours outside of his crate, just Tucker and our cat Blue, and there were no problems! Tucker hasn’t done much damage to anything in our home like chewing up phones or remote controls or shoes, but he is still young.
We have found Tucker’s temperment to be superb. We have made sure he has met a lot of people and kids, dogs and cats and he is very well socialized. He has good manners around other dogs especially now that he has been neutered (no more mounting attempts). He is a great traveller and we have had him in the car for several hours and he is always fine; no restlessness, barking or anything. He will either just sit there or fall asleep. We have made sure he has been exposed to a wide variety of situations and it has paid off. He has been around loud cars and equipment, campfires and fireworks. He has been swimming and even sat on an air matress while we pulled him around Osoyoos lake. He has slept in a camper, a tent and other peoples homes a few times. He has done so much already and he is not afraid of anything!
I could gush about Tucker all day, but the biggest compliment is when people meet him. We’ve had people cross busy streets to get to Tucker and ask us questions about him. At one of our softball games a player from another team, on another diamond, saw him and had to come over to look at him. Everytime we walk him around people, they all stare and say how beautiful he is. Everytime! We took him camping in Osoyoos and every couple of hours we would have visitors at our site playing with him, asking us about his breed. One lady wanted to take him home, for real!
We would be happy to give you any kind of follow up information in the future and you can put any of the attached pictures on your website. Also, everyone has been asking us where Tucker came from and we have been directing people to your website. Just a heads up…
Thanks again for such a perfect little dog. I hope everyone else is as happy as we are!”
This is Musca! This is what Musca’s family has to say about her:
“We’ve renamed her Musca (which means fly in Latin) and she is doing very well. It took her almost a week to adjust to her new home but now she’s very happy. She has the sweetest temperament and is happy just to sleep in my lap all day. She’s very sensitive and her feelings get hurt very easily, it’s part of what makes her so sweet. She has made good friends with the two labs that live in the yard, Jack and Katie, and spends lots of time running around with them. We all laugh because she thinks that she’s a big dog. Musca is very smart, although sometimes she is just too exciting to behave. She has so much energy all the time when she isn’t sleeping. One of her favorite things to do is called the “bullet dog.” She runs around the yard in circles, or around the apartment in circles, at full speed until she can’t run any more. Sometimes one of us, or one of the other dogs, chases her. She’s so fast that she just looks like a blur. She also loves to give kisses and to chomp on anything that she can get her mouth around.
Right now she wieghs about 14 lbs and she stands around 13 inches at her shoulder. She’s still very lanky with long legs and a slim chest. Her ears stand almost all the way up most of the time and her tail hasn’t curled that much more since we got her. We found out last week that she is allergic to wasp venom. She was stung in her face by a yellowjacket and we had to take her to the vet. In the 5 minutes it took us to figure out that she had been stung and get her to the vet, which is half a block away, her face had swelled so much that she couldn’t breathe through her nose anymore. The vet gave her a shot of benadryl and she was fine after about 10 minutes. He said that her reaction was severe and suggested that we keep liquid benadryl on hand in case of another sting. I’m not sure if this is heredetary, but you might want to pass this information on to the other owners. Otherwise, she is perfectly healthy. She gets spayed and microchipped tomorrow.
I’ve attached some pictures of her that I took a couple of days ago. Also, there is one of her wrestling with Jack but in that one she’s only about 41/2 months. I included it because wrestling with Jack is her favorite thing to do. I’m looking forward to seeing how she compares to her littermates. “
Our girl Pinky.
Pinky is the puppy we decided to keep for ourselves. She seems to be the biggest of her litter, being 18 lbs at 6 months. She has an amazingly sweet temperment and is very submissive, loyal, and well behaved. She’s pictured here with her mother Luna a couple of the photos. She gets along very well with her and with our older neutered mail Iggy, whom she loves to play with. She’s clever and obedient. We absolutely adore her.
There’s still two puppies we haven’t gotten recent images of to share with you, but their busy families say that they are well loved, and are doing well in their adopted homes. Hopefully we’ll be able to add info about them at a later date. I’m also hoping to have another update at a year old to see how all these pups fill out!
